Well it’s been a dramatic last couple of weeks to say the least.
The twitter blow up I had with journalists certainly got out of hand and I regret using the language which I did. I wish that I had gone about it in a different way and gotten my point across properly.
Basically it all started when I got woken up early in the morning by friends of mine texting from home. I saw my picture being used with an article that talked about match-fixing and seedy business going on at the IPL. I went on the website to see what it was all about then blew up and let my frustrations get the better of me. It was disappointing to have my photo pointing towards match fixing, which is something that no cricketer wants to be tagged with. I wasn't mentioned in the article so was trying to think, why is my image being used?
I regret using offensive language but I'm still going to speak my mind. I felt like if I didn’t say anything people would automatically assume that I was the person the article was referring to was me. But it’s all behind me now, I’ve learnt my lesson and it’s time to move on.
I’m also keen to move on in a cricketing sense after a pretty miserable time from a team perspective with the Delhi Daredevils. Including the Test series, I had three wins out of 20 games so it was a tough period. Fortunately I did get some runs on the board and hopefully that can provide for better times ahead in the Champions Trophy and the Ashes.
Physically I couldn’t be in better shape for the England tour. I spent a lot of my downtime at the IPL working hard in gym and sticking to a high fat low card diet. Basically just a lot of grilled meats and vegetables. I’ve lost about 8 kilos and my skinfolds are at an all-time low so I’m ready for the long English summer ahead.
And I’ll need to be at my physical peak with the challenges ahead. I've spoken to a lot of players with lots of experience in England like AB De Villiers and the consensus is you need to know where your off-stump is and leave well. I’ve been watching the England and New Zealand series and picking up as many clues as I can.
Well I’m literally about to get on the plane to England … Let’s hope we can come back with the urncomments powered by Disqus
